Senegal and Switzerland, with ALLCOT’s support, work together to sign an ITMO Program

ALLCOT participated as a consultancy firm performing a study with comprehensive data to qualify and quantify the waste management infrastructure eligible for an ITMO program between Senegal and Switzerland. The MADD document is already issued, and waiting to start the validation process.

The composting plants included in the Program and their management will be implemented and operated by SONAGED S.A., a public limited company placed under the technical supervision of the Minister in charge of the living environment and under the financial supervision of the Minister in charge of finance in Senegal.

ALLCOT’s role in the ITMO Program

The role of ALLCOT in this program is related to the climate change mitigation component of the Program under Article 6.2.

ALLCOT will develop and manage all the Art 6.2 documentation: Desk Review for internal audit to comply with Art 6.2 Requirements, MADD and Monitoring Reports, evidences, records, MRV System, Emission Reductions calculations, and support during the VVB validation/verification audits and Article 6.2 authorization and issuance procedures.

ALLCOT is currently managing, together with KliK and SONAGED, the selection of the VVB to start with the validation audit.

The validation audit

The validation audit is expected to be performed during the end of 2023. This validation audit will be performed by a certified Validation and Verification Body.

When this VVB issues its Final Validation Report, the Program must be reviewed and authorized by the Senegalese DNA (host country) and the DNA from the ITMOs buyer country (Switzerland in the case of KliK) as the Program must fulfil the requirements from both countries under the Art 6.2 Agreement
